Certificate Specialty Programs

 Overview

Southwestern College Certificate Specialty Programs expand your scope of professional expertise and enhances your marketability as a Counselor and Art Therapy / Counselor. The programs consist of a series of intensive offerings in clinically relevant areas of professional practice, including Grief, Loss & Trauma, Children’s Mental Health, Transformational Ecopsychology and more.

The Certificate Programs are open to people with an undergraduate or graduate degree. Many of our current M.A. degree students take coursework from our certificate programs to create specialty area(s) in their studies. Much of the coursework in the Certificate Programs is offered in weekend seminars/trainings and may earn 20 CECs or 2 graduate credits.

Participants are not required to apply for a certificate program to take individual seminars.

Students may take up to three classes before submitting an application for a certificate. Application requirements for a certificate are an application, a $25 application fee, three confidential recommendations, a transcript with Bachelor’s award, and an interview with the program director.  Accepted degree students are not required to submit letters of recommendation and transcripts.
