Southwestern College (SWC) is a small, non-profit, consciousness-centered graduate school located in Santa Fe, New Mexico with an enrollment of approximately 300 students. We are fully accredited by the Higher Learning Commission to offer Master’s degree programs in Counseling, Art Therapy/Counseling, Art Therapy for Clinical Professionals, Transformational Teaching,Learning & Leadership, Consciousness in Action, and a Ph.D. in Visionary Practice and Regenerative Leadership. Staff positions

Program Director, Clinical Academic Programs

Position type: Full-time
Salary Range: $80,000–95,000 per year

PhD Program Coordinator

Position type: 30 hours per week (Full-time)
Hourly rate: $30 per hour

This position provides administrative support to the PhD Program Director who oversees the PhD in Visionary Practice and Regenerative Leadership (VPRL) at Southwestern College in Santa Fe. Responsibilities include scheduling, organizing on-ground doctoral program residencies, updating handbooks and other materials, collaborating with the Faculty, Student Services, IT, Library, Financial Aid, and other campus offices that provide direct services to students to help bridge academics and student affairs and create an integrated student experience that supports student retention and success. This is an administrative position requiring a high level of technical skill and excellent written and oral communication skills. Should have prior higher education experience and be able to work on the Southwestern College campus in Santa Fe. Thirty hours per week. $30 per hour. Full-time benefits included.

Faculty, Art Therapy/Counseling Program

Position Type: Full-time
Salary Range: $60,000-$65,000 per year

About Southwestern College

Southwestern College (SWC) is a consciousness-centered, transformational learning community in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Our graduate programs integrate academic excellence with holistic, experiential, and reflective learning, preparing students to serve as compassionate change agents in the world. We are seeking a Full-Time Faculty Member to join our Art Therapy/Counseling (ATCN) Program. This role is ideal for educators and practitioners who are passionate about transformational teaching, reflective practice, and mentoring the next generation of art therapists and counselors.

The Opportunity
As a faculty member in the ATCN program, you will:

  • Teach graduate-level courses (minimum 9 units per quarter) using experiential, reflective, and consciousness-based pedagogies.
  • Mentor and advise students, supporting their academic, professional, and personal growth.
  • Guide adjunct faculty through recruitment, supervision, and reflective mentorship.
  • Contribute to curriculum design and program development, ensuring alignment with SWC’s mission and accreditation standards.
  • Engage in professional, scholarly, or creative practice that reflects and enriches SWC’s values.
  • Participate in faculty governance, accreditation efforts, and institutional initiatives.
What We’re Looking For Required Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Counseling or Art Therapy
  • Art Therapy Board Certification (ATR-BC)
  • Graduate-level teaching experience in counseling, art therapy, or a related field
  • Experience with curriculum development/program design
  • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Supervisor License in New Mexico
  • Proficiency with LMS, SIS, and Microsoft Office Suite
  Preferred Qualifications:
  • Doctorate (Ph.D., Ed.D., Psy.D., or equivalent) in counseling, art therapy, or related field
  • Experience teaching in transformational, experiential, or reflective learning contexts

Adjunct Faculty for M.A. in Art Therapy/Counseling Program

Southwestern College’s M.A. in Art Therapy/Counseling is approved by the Capstone August 2014 -2American Art Therapy Association. It includes a lot of art-making with an experiential and holistic focus, and an emphasis on the personal growth and consciousness of the student/therapist. Our program allows graduates to sit for licensing in both Art Therapy and Counseling (this is unlike most Art Therapy programs.)

Please note that some Art Therapy/Counseling courses require instructors to have an ATR-BC, as required by AATA.

Adjunct Faculty for M.A. in Counseling Program

Southwestern College readily accepts letters of interest, curriculum vitae and teaching philosophy statements from licensed mental health professionals interested in teaching in our Higher Learning Commission accredited Counseling Program. We prefer our faculty to have at least three years of post-graduate clinical experience in order to bring a hands-on perspective to our students. Our faculty operate from a transformational model of teaching based on experiential methods of instruction that emphasize personal growth, reflective practice, and conscious awareness of biases and belief systems that affect interpersonal relationships. We ask our faculty to serve as models for authenticity, congruence, and active participants in the learning process.
