PSYCHODRAMA AND ACTION METHODS
Psychodrama means ‘soul in action.’ Jacob Levy Moreno introduced the idea in the 1920’s that the healing of the individual and of the group were inseparable. This premise is the cornerstone of Moreno’s theory on human development and his experimentation with ‘action methods’. Within the field of somatic psychology and group dynamics, psychodrama can be recognized as one of the first truly body-based methods. Classical psychodrama theory resonates with current principles from interpersonal neurobiology, field theory, and mindfulness practices.
THE NEUROBIOLOGY OF ATTUNED RELATIONSHIP IN THERAPY: INTRODUCTION TO BRAINSPOTTING
This workshop will introduce participants to Brainspotting within the context of an attuned relationship between therapist and client. Attunement is an empathic, resonant and relational state of attention which harnesses the neural circuitry that enables two people to ‘feel felt’ by each other. We will develop ways of enhancing interpersonal attunement and apply them to the basic skills in Brainspotting.
MOVING THROUGH: AN EXPERIENTIAL INVESTIGATION OF INTERPERSONAL NEUROBIOLOGY THROUGH MOVEMENT AND PSYCHODRAMA
This experiential weekend will be an organic process of mindfully weaving together movement rooted in the tradition of Aikido with Psychodrama. The theoretical part of the weekend will weave together contemporary thinking in somatic psychology and interpersonal neurobiology with body-based, experiential therapy, psychodrama and group process. This training is appropriate for all levels of experience. Participants will have the opportunity to practice directing with a focus on cultivating awareness and skill at the somatic level experience.
