Southwestern College: Change Agents From the Heart–Ted Wiard
I love our alum! The folks that graduate from SWC are change agents from the heart! They go out into the world and make a difference whether it is working in a big recovery center like the Betty Ford Clinic, doing art therapy with the CIA (oh my!), working with veterans and military families in this country and abroad, or working at a small hospital, clinic or agency. They go off in so many different directions and with so many visions.
Ted Wiard, one of our alum, had a big vision before he arrived at our doorstep. He had started a retreat center in Taos called Golden Willow http://goldenwillowretreat.org/ to help people who were grieving. He had been trained as a minister but knew that he needed additional training in counseling to proceed with his vision. Ted graduated from Southwestern College’s MA in Counseling program and in addition, became certified in the Grief and Loss program. He has really made a difference in helping people through the grieving process and now his work has grown beyond the scope of Golden Willow. He was on the Oprah Winfrey Network working with Shania Twain and this led to people contacting him throughout the world. A vision can grow way beyond the scope of our imagination…way beyond a single heart. I can’t wait to see what comes up next for Ted…and our other alum as well. God bless them all!
