Richard Alston Gundrey was born on September 20 1934 (80) in Flushing, Queens, NY.
He received an AAS degree from the State University of New York at Farmingdale, L.I. N.Y. in 1954 in Animal Husbandry.
He served honorably in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957 in Albuquerque, NM with a top secret Q clearance working with Atomic weapons.
He got married in 1962 in San Francisco, CA to Georgia Maryol. They were in the restaurant business together there until 1964 when theyreturned Albuquerque, NM, (Geogia’s home town) We remained in Albuquerque, NM until 1967 when we moved to Santa Fe and remained in the restaurant business until 1972.
He was involved in the Church of Religious Science from 1972 until 1985.
He founded the Independent Catholic Church of Antioch in 1985
He studied as a seminarian in Sophia Divinity School from 1985 to 1987. I was ordained as a Priest in 1987 in San Jose, CA. he opened his own Church, The Church of Antioch at Santa Fe. in Santa Fe, NM on August 8, 1988. During his time with the Worldwide Church of Antioch, he served for 5 years on the International Board of Directors.
In 1990 he was consecrated as a Bishop for the church. In 1993 he was elevated to the presiding Archbishop of the Worldwide Catholic Apostolic Church of Antioch. During this time he also was the Dean of Sophia Divinity School which was located in Santa Fe, NM from 1993 to 1997.
He retired from the leadership of the Worldwide Church of Antioch in 2003 and from the leadership of my local Church of Antioch in 2011. The local church continues to function here in Santa Fe.
