Southwestern College Santa Fe, NM
Ron is the Landscaping Director at Southwestern College. You have seen him around a thousand times, and if you’re lucky, you have had opportunities to talk with him. He is a really interesting guy, with a wide and colorful background.
Ron was born in Chicago, and, well—I’ll let him tell you…
“I grew up a gypsy of sorts—rainbow family, deadhead, what not. I lived in several states, and did a couple of years in community college for arts and anthropology.
Hobbies. Well, primitive skills like flintknapping, foraging, making bows and arrows, rockhounding, various arts, like stone carving, woodworking, tattooing, lapidary, nature crafting.
I like playing music—Old timey banjo, African drumming. I am interested in martial arts, hunting, fishing, and archery.
I’m a family-oriented person; my spiritual interests lie in the direction of Shamanism. I have taught Shamanic practice and chakra balancing.
I have had some jobs. Four years at the Blue Eagle Metaphysical Bookstore, four years at Mama’s Minerals, where I learned to do lapidary, and rockhounding, and identification. I was a tour guide for eight years in Chicago, working with Asian VIPs who were in business with Motorola. Seventeen years on and off as a mover, three years as a coffee delivery and machine tech. I’ve done flower farming. I focalized for the pagan community. I have done roofing of all kinds. My first real job was serving food trays in an old folks home…”
So that’s Ron. Actually, no it’s not. You should find a reason to talk with him. He is WAY more than that…We are so lucky to have him at Southwestern College…
