Mattsué Cahué-Lopez, B.S., NBC-HWC, was born in Aguascalientes, Mexico and raised in Arizona. She moved to Santa Fe, NM to begin her academic journey at Southwestern College (SWC) in pursuit of a Master’s in Art Therapy and Counseling. She is passionate about empowering people in her community to live healthy and happy lives and advocating for mental health equity. Since becoming a student at SWC, she was elected as the student representee for the SWC Board of Trustees. Among other accomplishments she earned an assistantship at Tierra Nueva Counseling Center (TNCC) where she serves members of the community by providing Navigator Services; she also provides administrative support in the role of receptionist at TNCC; she is a co-leader of an Empty Bowls fundraising event, and her most recent accomplishment of becoming a member of the El Puente De Encuentros fellowship program. When Mattsué is not immersed in her studies, serving her community, or managing duties and responsibilities she is painting, hiking, socializing, and hanging out with Duke, her furry companion.
