Marie Wilson, PhD, LPCC, ATR-BC, ATCS, CSAT-S, is Professor Emerita in the School of Psychology & Counseling at Caldwell University in New Jersey, and the founder and former Coordinator of the Art Therapy Programs at Caldwell. After retiring from the University in 2018, she taught for two years in the Counselor Education Program at Kutztown University in Pennsylvania. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Certified Sex Addiction Therapist & Supervisor and Board-Certified Art Therapist & Supervisor with 40 years in the behavioral health field. Since 1997, she has concentrated on the treatment of sexual addiction. She maintains a private practice in Pennsylvania and New Mexico.
Dr. Wilson has published numerous articles on the use of the creative process in addiction treatment and contributed chapters in the Clinical Management of Sexual Addiction (2002/2018) and The International Handbook on Sexual Addiction (2018). Dr. Wilson is a Fulbright Scholar and received the first Honorary Life Member /Distinguished Service Award from the New Jersey Art Therapy Association 1997 for her commitment to the profession of art therapy in the State. Dr. Wilson has served on numerous committees for the American Art Therapy Association over the years and is currently the Chair of the Continuing Education Committee. She also serves on the Disciplinary Hearing Panel of the Art Therapy Credentials Board and the editorial board for the Journal of Counselor Preparation & Supervision.
