Gemma Majewski, Student Member of the Board

Gemma is an English (United Kingdom) spouse of an American, and moved to New Mexico almost two years ago.  Prior to my entry into the United States, she worked as a Pupil Support Manager at a primary school, concentrating on children with behavioural issues, and abuse cases.  She was also a Military Key Spouse for a Squadron, and worked tirelessly to support families in the military community during the deployment cycle with mental, and physical health issues as well as being a ‘surrogate mother’ to many young military spouses. She is also trained and certified as a Play Therapist in England through Play Therapy UK (PTUK).  This opened her eyes to the therapeutic world and how a child’s unconscious can non-verbally communicate through behaviour.  She feels that the universe guided her to Southwestern College to develop my skills further, learn more about herself, and to strengthen her self-esteem. It is an honor to be working as the Student Board Member for the coming year, and I am very excited to take on this new challenge!
