Allison “Allie” Davis received her Ph.D. in Multicultural Women’s and Gender Studies and her M.S. in Counseling and Development from Texas Woman’s University. Before joining Southwestern College, Allison taught in the Clinical Counseling Program at Alliant International University and was the inaugural postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Maternal Psychology Lab at Teachers College, Columbia University. Her work in maternal ecopsychology has been published in peer-review journals such as Ecopsychology and Women’s Studies International Forum and she is Associate Editor for the Journal of Mental Health and Climate Change. In her private practice, Allie specializes in ecofeminist psychologies and expressive ecotherapies, supporting mental health challenges in times of transitional crises with a wholistic, strength-based, developmental approach. Her research agenda investigates the meaning of ecodistress during matrescence and the possibilities of ecopedagogy in counselor education. She is passionate about counselor education as it invites students on a transformative journey of personal and professional growth, preparing them to make a profound difference in the lives of their clients and communities.
