Advisement
During the enrollment process, students choose a program planner detailing the sequence of the courses they will take. Students wishing to explore changing their program planner work with the Student Services and Field Training Coordinator. This might include moving courses from one quarter to another or changing the pace at which they move through their program.
Students are also assigned an Academic Advisor. They provide mentorship around professional development, career exploration, and professional trends in counseling and art therapy. Academic Advisors are full-time faculty at SWC and counselors and art therapists in their own right.
Success Coaching and Academic Supports
The transformational learning process is the guiding star of your journey at Southwestern College. At times, students need a more support than an advisor can provide as they move through SWC’s transformational and academically rigorous curriculum. Coaching can assist you in identifying action steps to support your academic and professional success, as well as navigating conflict and the transformational process as a whole. In addition, if you need reading, writing, time-management, or study skills support, we can connect you to resources to boost your academic and learning–to–learn skills. Please contact the Associate Dean of Student & Career Services for any type of support and/or coaching.
ADA Accessibility Services
Southwestern College is committed to making its programs accessible to all students. The College will make reasonable accommodations to classroom and scheduling procedures and provide necessary auxiliary aids to accommodate students with documented disabilities.
You can request accommodation at any time during your enrollment, although we recommend you make your request when you first register for classes. We find students who qualified for accommodations in their previous educational journey, or who are just now receiving an official diagnosis, highly benefit from accommodations while pursuing their graduate education at SWC. Requesting accommodations early allows us to provide you with the support you need to be successful at SWC.
Please Contact the Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs to inquire about any of our student support services.
