Southwestern offers online and on-the-ground programs in Santa Fe, New Mexico. There is a commitment to personal development by students, faculty and the administration. The self-reflection that is embedded in the coursework provides students with the opportunity for in-depth exploration of how they view their world and how that impacts the relationship with their clients. This provides students with an increased sensitivity to multiculturalism and the recognition of how our belief systems shape our relationships. Our students gain confidence throughout this process and build a professional identity that is uniquely their own. We believe that this creates stronger therapists and healers.

Our programs offer a holistic and integrative perspective. This approach is supported by an experiential philosophy of learning that engages students in dynamic classroom discussions and the application of skills and knowledge. The Specialty Certificate programs are provided through SWC’s New Earth Institute. The clinical programs all provide a practicum and internship offering practical hands-on training. The Tierra Nueva Counseling Center, a mental health clinic operated by the College, is where the clinical training begins.
