Cathy is a Norteña, with roots in Chimayó and Dixon. She is a graduate of Espanola High School, New Mexico State University (BS) University of New Mexico (MA) and New Mexico State University (PhD). She has a wealth of experience in the educational field, having been a classroom teacher in classes from PreK to high school and a college instructor for remedial to graduate level classes. This experience propels her to keep on working with students, families and assisting educational leaders in the community. Her work with faculty in Hispanic Serving Institutions across the nation leads her to support the efforts of learning communities to make a difference for all students. She lives in Española with her husband, writes poetry and takes special delight in her 8 grandchildren.
