Debra Irizarry, MA, ATR-BC, LCAT

Debra Irizarry, MA, ATR-BC, LPAT received her master’s in Clinical Art Therapy and Counseling from LIU/Post in New York, and her BA in Studio Arts/Digital Arts from Stony Brook University, NY.  She was born in NYC and raised in Puerto Rico. Her upbringing within a diverse community has greatly influenced the way she fluidly engages people of all races and cultures. Debra is not only an art therapist/mental health therapist working with adolescents in high schools in Santa Fe, and is also a fine and new media artist who actively works on her art and exhibits her work. She will be showing her work at this year’s Biennale of Florence and currently has an exhibition at the Museo Cultural de Santa Fe. Her ancestry and deep connection to the spirit world has been evident throughout her artistic journey and growth as a healer using the arts. In therapy Debra uses both traditional media together with new media technology to facilitate the expression of diverse population of clients in helping them connect with their mind, body, and spirit in the here and now.
