Dr. Martinez is a professor of practice, consultant, businesswoman, and “visionary of the possible.” Using multicultural stories, narratives, dialogue, and creative expressions from more than 30 years of research and experience, Dr. Martinez has taught the transformative functions of leadership and how they can be applied to reconnect organizations and individuals with visionary living.
Having earned her doctoral and master’s degrees in administrative leadership from Vanderbilt University, a former teacher and school executive, Dr. Martinez will serve as faculty for the upcoming Ph.D. in Visionary Practice and Regenerative Leadership, at Southwestern College in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She has also been a faculty member at the University of San Diego, New Mexico Highlands University, University of Arizona and served as an assistant professor at the University of Connecticut.
An innovator in graduate leadership course development, Dr. Martinez has created learning platforms that inspire and expand the creative and professional capabilities of her students. Her courses include, The Art of Leadership, A Gallery of Creative Possibilities, Reflective Leadership, as well as topics exploring, Race, Gender and Culture and Ethical Leadership.
As the founder of Martinez and Associates in 1996, and President of Martinez Global Consulting, she continues to teach and offer leadership expertise to groups in business, government and education worldwide. Her many corporate clients have included Altria, Philip Morris International, Citibank (Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta), Sony Pictures, Armor Swift, Kraft, Burger King as well as government agencies such as U.S. Department of Education, U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Indian Affairs and many others.
Dr. Martinez has also specialized in the development and implementation of educational and leadership programs worldwide. Most recently she helped to improve educational leadership in Chile and was an invited speaker to the U.S. Embassy in Santiago. Other international projects include Escuelas Don Bosco school systems of Bolivia and as a consultant to Pacific Resources for Education and Learning (PREL), for the Federated States of Micronesia (Yap, Chuuk, Pohnpei and Kosrae). Prior to forming her own consulting business, she worked as a senior consultant for Pecos River/AON and Wilson Consulting from 1994 to 2000. Clients included Citigroup, Intel, Miller, Cargill, Time Warner, United Airlines, and Kaiser Permanente among others
She lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico USA, with her husband Peter.
