Susanne Stockman, Ph.D., LPCC

Susanne Stockman completed her B.A. in Humanistic Psychology from the University of Massachusetts and her M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Southwestern College. She earned her Ph.D. from Pacifica Graduate Institute and holds a Doctorate in Depth Psychology with an emphasis in Depth Psychotherapy.

Dr. Stockman has been working in the field of human services for over 40 years. She devoted the first 15 years of her career to serving severely emotionally disturbed adolescents and adults in community based settings. During this time, she also supervised a 24-hour crisis intervention program where she provided supervision and developed and implemented training seminars for crisis counselors.

Dr. Stockman has been in private practice for the past 20 years. She specializes in working with trauma, PTSD, relational issues, grief and loss, mood disorders, religious wounding, and fears. She recently adopted her dog, Gracious, who is training as her assistant in bringing in a calm and loving presence, adding another wonderful dimension to the psychotherapeutic process.

Her first publication, Daughters of Yahweh: Recovering the Deep Feminine from the Yahweh Complex, examines the roots of Western monotheism and the ways in which the one-sided masculinity of the Father God-image has become incorporated into the feminine psyche. The study pursues the reclamation of the feminine principle, so necessary in our culture for both men and women, as we move towards a greater sense of wholeness. She is currently working on her next publication called Beyond Yahweh: A Continuation in the Recovery of the Deep Feminine, which is a compilation of essays, poetry, artwork, and choreography celebrating the feminine spirit. She is also a member of the C.G. Jung Institute’s Advanced Studies Program, where she is continuing her studies in Depth Psychology and Jungian theory.

Dr. Stockman is deeply committed to assisting others in reclaiming the split-off and dissociated parts of the psyche. She has great respect for the ways in which the unconscious makes itself known, and she is devoted to holding a compassionate container for those exploring psyche’s depths.
