- Michelle Lynn, M.A., LMHC
Prior to getting her Master’s Degree in Counseling at SWC in 2011, Michelle was an elementary school teacher. She taught off and on for 12 years. During her “off” periods she had many interesting jobs such as working as a stitcher in the costume shop for Musical Theatre Southwest in Albuquerque, NM, teaching belly dancing (and performing), working in various retail and customer services jobs, acting as a “victim” for crisis and response trainings, and doing some administrative work.
She is currently the Operations Manager for Tierra Nueva Counseling Center and Internship Liaison Manager for Southwestern College. She oversees the logistical and administrative aspects of the counseling center including practicum orientation and training for EMR-Bear, the electronic health records program used by all students and licensed therapists. She is the “go-to” person when students have questions about internship and out-of-state licensing. She conducts several workshops for students throughout the academic year including “Organization and Time Management”, “What to Expect in Practicum”, “Internship Basics”, “NCE Prep Workshop”, and coming soon, “The Mystery and Madness of Licensing”.
She enjoys spending time going camping, playing games, and scaring trick-or-treaters at Halloween with her partner and two step-children (both teenagers). On her own time, she enjoys gardening, reading and watching TV shows and movies with a science fiction or fantasy theme, spending time with friends, and doing creative projects.
