I began the counseling program at Southwestern after teaching elementary school off and on for 12 years in the public schools of New Mexico. During that time I explored my creative and spiritual sides by working in the costume shop at Musical Theatre Southwest in Albuquerque, making period clothing and costumes for reenactment communities, attending spiritual and shamanic workshops through the Pagan community, teaching and performing belly dancing, and going to therapy. Throughout the process of my personal explorations, I realized that I really wanted to help others on their own path of self discovery.
Now, seven years and one degree later, I am helping clients and students on their paths. I enjoy working with clients on self-esteem, self-empowerment, and relationship issues. I have led several groups on those topics as well as assertiveness, envisioning your life, and learning how to receive. I use my training and experience as a teacher and shamanic healer to meet my clients where they are at and guide them to their next steps towards healing and self-actualization. Currently, I am taking a break from seeing clients so that I can focus on my full time job as Administrative Coordinator.
