The Integral Somatic Psychology Certificate Program

Southwestern College is excited to introduce a 200-hour Integral Somatic Psychology Certificate Program intended to tap into the wisdom of the body. Somatic Psychology is an interdisciplinary approach that integrates the study of psychology and the intelligence of the body. It includes modalities such as breath work, expressive movement, mindfulness, energy work and trauma recovery.

The Integral Somatic Psychology Certificate Program at SWC is unique in that it includes, but is not limited to, trauma-based models. It offers an overview of the field of somatic psychology that emphasizes a number of different approaches rather than only one school of thought. It engages in the study of this vital topic in both an academic and experiential environment. Without having to apply for another degree, participants can learn the theory and practice of Somatic Psychology. This program is designed for those in the helping professions who have at least a bachelor’s degree. To apply for the program, find out more from the Admissions Office.

Topics Covered in this Program Include:

• Somatic Psychology–theory and practice

• The awake and sensate body

•The breath and energy body

• The moving and expressive body
