Psychodrama and Action Methods Certificate Program
Psychodrama
and Action Methods (PDAM) use physical enactment to help externalize
and dramatize internal and interpersonal problems, conflicts,
dreams, possibilities and solutions. Action Methods are suitable
for use in settings with individuals and groups, and can be
adapted to many cultures and personality types. These methods
are currently used worldwide in a variety of contexts including:
therapy, education, corrections, organizational consulting and
development, conflict resolution, violence prevention, community
development and trial lawyer training.
The
goal of this program is to provide participants with an overview
of Psychodrama and Action Methods and a toolbox of practical
basic skills. Each seminar is experiential and didactic, integrating
the theory and practice of Psychodrama and Action Methods with
a particular theme, or an area of clinical or educational focus.
To
earn a certificate in Psychodrama and Action Methods, one is
required to complete 200 hours of training. The program is largely
made up of 20-hour weekend seminars. There are also bi-monthly
Friday afternoon 5-hour trainings which may also be attended
to meet program certification requirements. The individual seminars
are available to take for CEU credit for professionals
and can be taken without applying to the certificate program.
Current SWC graduate students are able to take the courses as
well as apply for the certificate program.
