THE COSMOLOGY OF THE ANDEAN SHAMAN Indigenous medicine people have mastered practical ways to effectively heal, transform, and envision human potential in harmony with the natural principles of heaven and earth. Their heart-centered approach allows them to maintain balance and wellbeing while empowering and improving people's lives. The Cosmology of the Andean Shaman program offers a three-step path to personal healing and power. It revolves around the concept of the Andean "Pachas", which are Inca maps of consciousness.Through the classes and a Peru expedition, we will learn the authentic cosmology of Andean shamanism including age old techniques for personal healing and transformation in a safe and supportive environment. Over a period of a year, The Cosmology of the Andean Shaman program comprises of a series of three long weekend sessions and an expedition to Peru in August.To obtain maximum gain, commitment to all three sessions and the Peru trip is recommended, but not required. Following successful completion of the entire program, you will receive certification. Following the program, participates can qualify for additional certification in Transformational Ecopsychology by completing a 10 day wilderness vision quest led by Carol Parker, PhD.

Initiatory Journey in Peru August 3-16, 2008 60 CE hours $2700 (plus travel)

Join us in a spiritual journey in the high Andes of Peru led by Q'ero Paqos (shamans) including Jose Luis Herrera. This journey follows the footsteps of the High Initiation of Mountain Shamans from the Sacred Valley to the Holy Mountain known as Apu Ausangate. This high altitude expedition will explore the Rites of Passage and traditions of the Paqo or shaman. We will partake in traditional ceremonies of release, purification and initiation. Teachings will occur at Machu Picchu and other sacred sites. During this journey you will be at high altitudes, however, you may choose between a lower elevation journey and a higher elevation trek. The latter trek necessitates extensive physical preparation to be able to withstand the rigors of high altitude hiking.

Hanaqpacha, The Pacha of the Subtle Levels of Energy

The teachings of the third pacha or the Hanaqpacha revolve around the upper world. In this teaching we learn to awaken the visionary within and explore and envision our possibilities as individuals and collectively. We will explore the mystery teachings outside of time and space and bring awareness and availability to our own becoming. You will use shamanic practices to engage you in perceptual shifts to seek and obtain information. Using several tracking modalities you will learn to navigate in different realms of consciousness and become familiar with spirit guides, sacred features of the land, and the luminous body. You will learn the subtleties of energy as you develop your own medicine bundle that is based on the organizing principles in nature.

Uhupacha, The Pacha of Empowerment and Healing
March 7-10, 2008

The first Pacha of empowerment and healing is known as Uhupacha and represents the lower world where everything is intangible and in the constant process of incubation and manifestation. This realm is the womb of the Mother where life originates and returns and is considered a safe place for the soul to take refuge in times of chaos, pain, or trauma. Through animistic ceremonies and ritual we will reclaim those soul parts that have been compromised and restore them to their natural condition. The teachings allow you to change your relationship with the past and no longer be claimed by your history and stories, but rather, step beyond "woundedness" to a place of "becoming."

Kaypacha, The Pacha of Balance, Reciprocity & Harmony
May 16-19, 2008

The second Pacha or Kaypacha, is known also as the middle world. In this domain, we will explore the tremendous capabilities of our awareness. We learn to awaken the "knowingness" that resides in our luminous bodies and break loose from our limiting belief system. You will be invited to shift from a five sensorial experience to multi-sensorial engagements and recognize consensual reality from non-consensual reality. Through the intention of unconditional love, you will bring the sacred understanding of how we relate to our interpersonal engagements and how we honor our struggles. You will learn more of how indigenous medicine teaches us balance, reciprocity, and harmony which then becomes the blueprint merging the parts of who we appear as and who we really are.

LEADER

Jose Luis Herrera Jose Luis' talents and skills are evidenced in the beauty and heart he brings to his shamanic teachings. A native of Cusco, Jose Luis was born into the medicine traditions of the Andes and Amazon. For the past twenty years, he has extensively traveled and studied the different medicine traditions of South America, having worked with Peru's most respected medicine people. Jose Luis is a trained naturalist and mountaineer and is educated in civil engineering and computer science. His deep connection with Holy Mountains or Apus has led him to climb many mountains in Peru and Bolivia, and he is a foremost expedition leader in Peru. Jose Luis' journey has allowed him to teach in America and Europe becoming a genuine bridge with the Western and the Andean cultures and paradigms.

CERTIFICATION

Following successful completion of the three long shamanic training weekends and the expedition to Peru, you will receive a certificate of completion for The Cosmology of the Andean Shaman program. Graduates of this program are eligible to receive a one time special offering to complete the Transformational Ecopsychology Certificate Program for only 60 additional contact hours offered in a 10-day wilderness vision quest led by Carol Parker, PhD.
