Carla Kleefeld, M.A., Ph.D., LPCC, earned her Doctorate in Clinical Depth Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute in 2000. Carla has worked for over 20 years in at various Community Mental Health and Intensive Outpatient Settings both in New Mexico and Washington State.
Carla directed the Early Childhood Treatment Program at Santa Fe Family Center for several years and has been the primary therapist for very young children and their parents. She has continued to work with at-risk adult populations and has a private practice in Santa Fe. Her primary orientation to therapy and dreamwork utilizes depth, attachment-related and psychodynamic approaches. She has received advanced graduate-level training in Dreamtending.
Carla teaches several classes at SWC including: Applied Theories of Human Development, Psychopathology, Archetypal Psychology, and Clinical Skills. Dr. Kleefeld utilizes the practices and processes of depth psychology, active listening, presence, and attunement during classes and enjoys interactive, communicative and meaningful engagement with students; adding art, music and meditation whenever possible. Her teaching philosophy is based on openness, acceptance and collaboration.
