Pssst. Reminder: You can’t learn EVERYTHING you want to know in two years. That is why there is Continuing Education…there is a lifetime of learning ahead. My advisor told me that time and time again at Ohio State. I thought they owed me all the knowledge and all the topics I wanted to know about during my 7 years of grad school, and he would just smile, and it just made me mad, and later on I got it. Most of the stuff I learned in grad school I have forgotten (except the deep sensibilities stuff) and most “Theory” and most “Approaches” now did not exist then. The field is dynamic. It is not science–it is art, and we learn new ways to be in it and to be helpful, and two years is like a minute in our overall learning curve in this field…Embracing that helps it feel like your pace is “good enough”…You will learn what you want to learn and need to learn by and by…Breathe, trust, stay open, and remember that Againstness sucks energy like nobody’s business…move the energy forward… jim Nolan, who always wants to run a million miles an hour and learn everything right this minute….
