When it Does Not Seem to Work…

When it Does Not Seem to Work…

The word “mindfulness” may imply, for some, that you are in your head…but that really is not the case. Or is it? This past week in the mindfulness session there was so much buzzing happening in the old noggin’ that it felt like a hornet’s nest.  Geez!   When you are practicing mindfulness and the only thing you are mindful of is buzzing in your head…does that count?

The quiet of the spiritual practice room ….the big plants, the photos of spiritual leaders and teachers, the art work….it all conspires to help not hinder the meditator. And yet… sometimes it is all about the buzzing.  I find it is enough in the practice, on those days, to just get quiet and be still in my body even if my mind is racing. This is o.k. It is good enough. Even on a day such as this, I can leave the session and return to work feeling more refreshed and clearer.
