Everywhere you hear about “integrative health care” now. It seems like this holistic or integrative approach is really catching on fast. It is about time I think. When I studied counseling my instructors were “all about” Carl Rogers! Y’know when I graduated I felt like this mini Carl Rogers and it just did not fit. Don’t get me wrong…I admire Carl Rogers deeply…as well as many of the other theorists (particularly the humanistic ones) but there is something to be said for being your own person…and being the therapist that comes naturally to you rather than playing a role.
Working in admissions I get all kinds of questions about the school as well as counseling and art therapy as a career. People ask about employability after the program…credentialing…faculty-student ratio…diversity and make up of student population…what the classes are like…what percentage of applicants we accept…what Santa Fe is like…how to find housing…lots and lots of questions. Great questions! And then when I ask someone why they chose the school, I often get a response “well, it felt right.”
Yep, it ‘feels right” for most folks who come here and I tell you that is hard to quantify!
