To earn a certificate in INSAM, students are required to complete 200 hours of training. You may enroll for a single weekend event or apply to the Certificate Program and complete 200 hours of training. All weekend seminars provide 20 CECs as well as 20 contact hours toward an INSAM Certificate. In addition, certain seminars provide 20 hours toward national certification with the American Board of Examiners in Psychodrama, Sociometry and Group Psychotherapy. All seminars can be taken multiple times for more in-depth learning while also earning additional hours toward certification. Students can take a maximum of three classes before applying for admission to the certificate program. After three classes, students must be admitted to the program or sign a waiver stating that classes are not being taken toward a certificate.
Southwestern College students who are enrolled in the INSAM Certificate Program are able to pre-register for the Group Dynamics class taught by Kate Cook during winter quarter. Taking this class provides 40 hours toward the INSAM certificate in addition to 4 quarter units toward an M.A. Degree program at the College. Students may also take electives in the INSAM program.
Financial aid is only available to students enrolled in a masters program while taking the certificate program classes for their required electives.
