Studies
Non-degree
study is offered at Southwestern College through the professional
studies and college studies programs. Students may take classes
for professional enhancement, or to explore the fields of
counseling and psychology further.
Professional
Studies Program
This program is designed for students with a graduate degree in counseling,
art therapy or a related field. Students apply to this program for personal
growth or professional development. Students may enroll in coursework at
the college provided the courses are taken in the designated sequence and
course prerequisites have been fulfilled. Permission to take courses in Year
Two of the degree programs is given on a case-by-case basis. To enroll as
a Professional Studies non-degree student, an applicant must:
1.
Submit a completed application to Southwestern College, including
a $50 application fee.
2.
Provide verification of a graduate degree (transcript of graduate
degree completion). If the student plans to become degree-oriented,
a personal statement, a resume, official transcripts, three
letters of recommendation and an admissions interview will
be necessary for acceptance into a master's program.
College
Studies Program
This
program is for students with an undergraduate degree interested
in personal growth or professional development. Students may
enroll in selected College Studies courses which address different
aspects of transformational education provided they have fulfilled
the course prerequisites. Students may take up to 10 units
of designated College Studies courses. The designated College
Studies courses are:
1.
Submit a completed application to Southwestern College, including
a $50 application fee.
2.
Provide verification of a bachelor's degree (transcript of
bachelor's degree completion).
If
the student wishes to take more than 10 units, it is necessary
to apply to a degree or certificate program.
